Cliff Gullett Killed at B.U.B. Event!
It is with the greatest regret that we announce that Cliff Gullett, rider of the Costella-Gullett Motorcycle Streamliner was killed yesterday afternoon at the Bonneville Salt Flats, after completing his return run. Cliff had two runs which qualified for the record in the 500 cc class, but the record will have to be ratified by the governing racing bodies for the event.
Cliff loved his experiences at Bonneville, and just a little over a week ago, set three World Land Speed Records, one of which broke a 50 year old record set in 1958.
Yesterday morning he expressed his excitement at the prospect of setting yet another record, and we are extremely hopeful that his runs will be ratified.
The Costella-Gullett Race Team, as well as the Sponsors; Team Bozeman Motorsports, V-Sept Sales & Service, K&T Performance, SCS Vinyl Works, Scorpion Helmets USA and Mountain PBE Supply, Inc., offers their most sincere sympathy and condolences to the entire Gullett Family, including his wife, Leanne, and his son, Casey, age 10 and his daughter, Nicole, age 15.
The family has established the Cliff Gullett Memorial Fund for distribution to Cliff's favorite charities. Memorials and contributions may be made to:

One More in the Record Books!! The Hard Way!!
No one can ever say that Cliff and Jack don't have luck on their shoulders.
After leaving impound and making their return run, the chute deployed prematurely due to a spring working loose on the mercury switch. "No Worries, Mate", as our New Zealand crewman Nick Bilton would say, as the Quarter plus Mile 1 and 2 were all that was needed to establish a new record at 219.097 MPH.
Cliff commented that it was a much different feeling when you pull the chute handle and know the lunge is coming, than to just have it happen and surprise you when it catches......
Nonetheless, this one is in the books, and they promptly set about correcting the switch problem so that the chute will not deploy early. Once that was completed, they setup the liner and got in line to make an initial run in the Motorcycle Streamliner 500cc Fuel Class.
Todays record tops the original record set by legend, Don Vesco in 1976 at 195.282 MPH, and raises the bar 23.815 MPH.
The 500cc Fuel record was set by Jess Thomas, when he was just 18 years old. That was in 1958, and he ran 212.288MPH to set the record.
Jack and Cliff approach these venerable records with great respect.
We wish them the best of luck in their endeavor!

Racing Is Underway - Liner in Impound for Record!
Yesterday, Cliff ran the liner for the first time with the new 497 cc motor in the Motorcycle Streamliner 500cc Gas class. His times were 198.598 for the Quarter, 203.677 for Mile 1, 210.691 for Mile 2, 216.592 for Mile 3 and an Exit Gate speed of 219.604. That was enough to qualify for a return run on the record set by the legendary Don Vesco in 1976 at 195.282 MPH.
Cliff felt that the liner could do better, so he did not go to impound.
Late this morning he ran again and had a 206.373 for the Quarter, 211.545 for Mile 1, 221.108 for Mile 2, 227.278 for Mile 3 and an exit speed in excess of 230 MPH.
The "Salt Snake" is now in impound and will attempt a backup run in the morning to break this prestigious record.
Congratulations on a great first outing, and an even better second run, as this new engines seats and prepares to break this 32 year record by that many Miles per Hour (227.278-195.282=31.996)
